London, 21 September 2016 - Smappee, which is leading the revolution in energy monitoring solutions, has expressed further ambitions for the future. At the Smart Home Summit in London, Europe’s main conference exploring the opportunities and innovations that technology is bringing to the home, CEO Stefan Grosjean will share his insights and opinions on Connecting the Smart Home. Smappee will expand its distribution network by reaching out to smart home webshops.

The Smart Home Summit in London (September 21-22) is the most important conference covering the Internet of Things ecosystem and its impact on the digital society. Stefan Grosjean, Smappee’s CEO, will participate in the panel discussion ‘Visionary Discussion: Changing the Way we Live with Connected Technology’ together with Christian Deilmann, CEO of Tado, Vanessa Folkesson, Advisor at Ikea and Paul Wilkinson, Head of Technology Research at Tesco Labs.

New distribution channels for Smappee

Smappee will also be announcing a next step in its distribution strategy, by opening up to smart home e-tailers. “Smappee is a perfect fit in the product range of smart home e-tailers. Energy is the third pillar of smart homes, besides lightning and security. The local smart-home e-tailers are a suitable distribution channel because of the trust-based relationship with the online customer. They offer easy to use, accessible and beneficial solutions to consumers”, explains Stefan Grosjean.

In 2013, Smappee launched its own webshop. “Since 2015, the Smappee monitors are also available through a partner network of Value Added Resellers”, Stefan Grosjean adds. “This includes solar panel installers, energy savings companies, renewable energy consultants and home automation experts.” In selected countries, the Smappee monitor is also for sale through retail shops or via In February, Smappee announced a partnership with Deutsche Telekom. To further support its growth, Smappee has now decided to distribute its monitors through smart home e-tailers.

Revolution in energy management

The Smappee home energy monitor gives users a quick and easy overview of their real-time electricity consumption. Using the unique signature of electrical devices, Smappee registers the consumption relating to the most important devices in the home and displays that in real-time in the Smappee app. Users can also activate ‘trigger options’ to switch electronic devices automatically off, for example, as soon as the user goes to bed or leaves the house. “Our energy management solutions enable users to gain insight into their consumption data and thus help them consume energy sustainably,” says Stefan Grosjean. Smappee functions as a traffic controller between your solar panels and your appliances. It will tell your car battery to charge when your solar panels are generating electricity and less when the sun's not shining. It will also know at what time in the morning you need hot water for your shower. A truly smart solution.
