Smappee proudly announces that their new smart charging station, Smappee EV Base, has won the prestigious Henry van de Velde Design award 2021. The product was selected from 198 entries and won the Business Innovation award. In addition, the general public can now also vote for Smappee EV Base for the Public Choice award and Smappee has a chance to win the Gold award. The winners will receive their award at a closing event at BOZAR on 5th February 2021. Then the winners of the Gold and Public Choice award will also be announced.

The Henry van de Velde Awards showcases projects, products and services that demonstrate the added value of design in its most varied aspects. The jury selected 17 winners from 198 submissions in seven categories.

The Smappee EV Base won the Business Innovation award as the product is mainly aimed at companies. There is the need to charge several electric cars of employees and visitors at the same time. Each charging station has two charging points with fixed charging cables for greater ease of use. With the integrated LED lighting, there’s no need to install additional lighting and the power cables this entails. This also increases safety in the car park. The sleek design, the simple housing made of high-quality ecological materials, and the quick installation all result in a cost price for the EV Base that is up to 30% under that of similar charging stations.
