What steps are Smappee taking to achieve carbon neutrality?
The 1st pillar of Smappee’s Sustainability Strategy states to “strive for carbon neutrality as a team (for Smappee as a company) and as a partner (for Smappee within the supply chain, supporting our customers in their sustainability pursuits and collaborating with our suppliers in ours)”.
Setting up the Carbon Footprint tracking & reporting, enables Smappee to measure, manage, and mitigate its environmental impact, while supporting product and process innovation, fostering transparency and strengthening partnerships – all contributing to Smappee’s overarching mission.
In terms of our carbon ambitions, Smappee has committed to reach Net Zero by 2030 at the latest. This implies that all greenhouse gas emissions generated by Smappee will be counterbalanced by an equivalent amount of removal or offsetting, resulting in a net zero emission balance across all emission scopes.
For BY2023, Smappee has pledged to be “carbon neutral”, which means that we have offset our carbon emissions for scope 1 and 2 with an equivalent amount of carbon offset credits, through a combination of carbon avoidance credits (50% of offset) and carbon removal credits (50% of offset).
