Belgian smart energy monitor supplier Smappee have announced a worldwide partnership with VARTA Storage Gmbh. As part of the collaboration, VARTA, a leading German manufacturer of energy storage systems, will incorporate Smappee energy monitors into its battery product range.

Smappee will soon have the VARTA Storage products appear in its app and user dashboard. Users will see real-time energy consumption and production in addition to how their energy flows interact with their energy storage system. This will allow them to use their energy more efficiently and save on their energy bills.

Perfect addition to current offering

“Over the years, our company has built up strong expertise in energy storage systems for residential and industrial use, and the demand for this is growing,” said Gordon Clements, General Manager VARTA Storage. “People want to store the energy they generate themselves instead of losing it to the grid. But before our customers can manage their energy, they first need detailed insight into their production and consumption. Smappee offers them the perfect tools for that and visualises this in an intuitive way. Instead of losing the surplus of green energy the user produces, Smappee directs it to be used by other devices or sends it to the battery. This surplus can then be used later when little or no green energy is available. The way products of VARTA Storage and Smappee complement each other is the strength of this collaboration.”

Growing Smappee ecosystem

Smappee is equally enthusiastic about the collaboration. “We are pleased to be able to add one of the most important players on the battery market to our ecosystem,” said Stefan Grosjean, CEO and founder of Smappee. “It allows us to offer our users additional opportunities to get the most out of their precious energy. The inclusion of the VARTA battery in our app and dashboard are the first steps in this collaboration, which we hope will grow to deliver increasing value to our customers.”
