Energy Strategy 2050Switzerland will increase its focus on the generation of sustainable energy in the coming years. In a binding referendum, 58.2 percent of the population approved a government plan ‘Energy strategy 2050’ for a greener energy supply. The production of renewable energy will be quadrupled and by 2035 every Swiss needs to reduce his energy consumption by half. Hence, the demand for solar PV installations is growing enormously. Many solar panel PV installers, such as Enaio, are responding to this by offering consumers all-in-one solutions.

WWF energy monitoring

Solar electricity and energy efficiency are crucial components of our planet's sustainable energy future. To pave the way for policy and other organizations WWF launched the WWF Upfront program in 2016. This three-phased approach turns WWF’s operations more energy efficient and powers them with renewable energy, one office at a time. At the base of energy efficiency lies monitoring -with a Smappee energy monitor-, offering the necessary insights in energy use to take energy efficiency measures.

Self-consumption

Solving global warming is the biggest challenge that humanity has ever faced. As politicians are struggeling to keep up with the climate agreement we see an increasing amount of civilians and organizations take action. The key element is the energy transition to renewable energy. This entails that the renewable energy that is produced is used to its fullest by automating the energy flows in the home. Appliances are switched on or off when the pro- duction peaks or is at a low. Excesses are stored for later. By adding blockchain-based currency and connecting a group of peers it would be possible, if policy allows it, to trade energy among each other in a easy, transparent and safe manner. Smappee is the only energy monitor that assists people in reaching that. It takes on the role of energy traffic controller in the home and ewards its users with SolarCoins for the solar energy produced. This way Smappee enables the future vision of turning homes into decentralized energy hubs that can produce, sell and buy renewable energy among themselves.

But, when the night falls, he transforms into an electricity-saving vigilante. He kindly asked us to note, however, that he does not have a costume or cape :-) Are you also curious for what Karls’ Smappee means to him?
