Ketelaars Groen & Infra is a family business known for sustainable and innovative operations. With the construction of a new office and residential building next to the existing company hall, energy demand increased significantly. At the same time, the government and several clients added pressure to accelerate electrification. The municipality also encourages companies to work electrically wherever possible—quite a challenge given the limited grid connection on-site.
To make well-informed decisions and optimise capacity, Ketelaars needed full insight into their energy flows. Together with partner eleQtriQ, they started searching for a smart and scalable solution. That search led them to Smappee Infinity.
Challenge
The expansion of the site and the electrification of the fleet caused a steep increase in energy demand, while an application for a new transformer was denied. Ketelaars had to stay within the existing capacity and needed clarity on peak usage, available headroom and how to make optimal use of their current grid connection.

Solution
In collaboration with eleQtriQ and Alius, the company chose Smappee Infinity, a flexible energy management system that monitors all main and sub-distribution boards. The system provides real-time insight into consumption, production and charging infrastructure, enabling Ketelaars to make well-founded decisions regarding capacity, storage and further sustainability measures.
Smappee integrates three separate grid connections — the company hall, the office and the residence — into one clear dashboard. The system also monitors multiple charging points, including EV Base, EV One, EV Wall and an EV Ultra DC charger with cascade protection. The site is already prepared for a future battery and a potential grid upgrade, which can later be intelligently controlled based on Smappee data.
