A non-profit healthcare organization, Rivas Zorggroep provides hospital and day-care treatments, as well as long-term care services such as nursing homes, rehabilitation, residential care, and district nursing across nineteen different locations in and around the South-Holland region in the Netherlands.

Energy-saving mandates issued by the Dutch government required Rivas Zorggroep to look more closely at their energy consumption and analyze where they could reduce, optimize, and adjust their infrastructure to support sustainable operations.

Following the energy-saving measures of the Dutch government, Rivas Zorggroep sought to monitor and gain deeper insights into their energy consumption. As Michael explained, “our main priority is to reduce our CO₂ emissions. To achieve that, we first needed to gain a clear understanding of how much energy we were using.” Analyzing the data through an energy management system would help them set up a plan to optimize and further reduce their energy consumption.

“At the time, we didn’t know Smappee also provided chargers for electrical vehicles,” Michael remarked. “That’s when we decided to install two charging stations for our staff at the hospital.” Due to government mandates on charging stations, Rivas is looking to extend their current charging infrastructure. Michael elaborated, “As a next step, we aim to install more charging locations and switch out our existing charging points for the visitor parking lots. Although we are restricted by our current infrastructure, I look forward to using the full range of our Smappee benefits in the future.”
